Florida Challenge #6: The Keri is a big wimp challenge

Our Florida Challenge #6

This challenge is pretty straight forward.  Mrs Globetrotter is a wimp. Heart-pumping, adrenaline-fueled action rides are not high on my priority list in life. I hate the feeling of my lungs trying to jump out my throat or morning tea repeating itself all over the Mad Hatters Tea Cups.

splash mountain | Our Florida Challenge | OurGlobetrotters.NetMy last Orlando trip I was pregnant and with a two year old so I had a brilliant excuse for copping out of all the ‘thrill seeker’ rides while Mr Globetrotter used a double Fastpass strategy to maximize his entertainment; my excuses are rapidly running out.

So here it is I am going to lay it on the table, with the assistance of Mr Globetrotter we have collated a list of the 10 biggest action rides across the Disney and Universal theme parks in Orlando. (We know there are more parks out there but these are ones we know will be on the agenda for this trip). Your job, my dear readers is to nominate which one I must ride on to overcome my perpetual hatred of these damn things!

Here they are in no particular vomit-inducing order (all rated 4+ for thrill seekers by Brit Guide Orlando):

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (Islands of Adventure)

The Simpsons Ride (Universal Studios)

The Incredible Hulk Coaster (Islands of Adventure)

The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman (Islands of Adventure)

Photographic evidence will of course be provided. Nominations can be made by commenting below, or via social media (on our Facebook page,  Twitter or Instagram).

I will declare the “winning” ride on 24 March 2015 just before we leave.

Have we missed any big-thrill rides off our list? Do you too feel waves of nausea when Dumbo rises more than about a meter off the ground? I’m surely not alone!

  • Right – so hubby tells me you’ve missed out the best one from your list! Apparently the Tower of Terror is very scary! His pick from the ones you mention is the Incredible Hulk Coaster. Gulp! He tells me that the queue is much shorter if you want to sit at the front… Just.Too.Scary. And is reserved for the real dare devils!

  • All of them! I don’t think there’s a roller coaster I won’t try (although I would never again go on Gwazi in Busch Gardens as it threw my nexk around too much!). Of all of those you list though, I would recommend the Hulk for a great thrill. But you can’t miss the Harry Potter ride, it’s fantastic. Go on, give them all a go 😉

    • It might come down to the shortest queue!! Actually I did do the Aerosmith rock’n’roll coaster at Disney Paris some years back, it was ok as it was dark you couldn’t see the big drops coming! After doing the New York New York roller coaster in Vegas though I said never, ever again would you get me on one but you never know, I could become a convert!

  • Think you are very brave. I feel the same way about these rides as you. Going back this year and rather than going as a group it will just be me and my husband which means I am going to have to go on more this time. I nominate splash mountain because besides the one horrible drop at the end (it is a lot bigger drop than it looks) it is not that bad. Make sure you sit on the left hand side though so you don’t get soaked.
